Lilacs
The common lilac, Syringa vulgaris, is well-loved for its toughness, reliability, and fragrance. In fact, lilacs are so tough that they can grow for 100+ years, often outliving the homes they were planted around. While the blooms are usually lilac/purple in color (from very pale to very dark), there are also lilac varieties in white and cream and even pink and yellow. Individual flowers can be single or double. Read more about Lilacs here.

Lilac, Miss Kim

Unit price perLilac, Miss Kim
From $12.5
Unit price perNo garden is complete without this star performer! Miss Kim is a dwarf lilac ideal for natural hedging, massing, or used as an accent or specimen. Stout stems clothed in mildew-resistant dark green leaves spread at a moderate rate into a uniformly rounded form - with no pruning needed! In May, a profusion of sweetly fragrant whitish-blue clusters bloom at the branch tips. Fall leaves usually turn interesting shades of burgundy and yellow, which is really good for a lilac. Lilacs form next spring's flower buds on this year's growth so make sure you trim within 6 weeks after flowering so as not to cut off next year's flower buds. Quite adaptable to different soils, provided they're not soggy.
