Showy Black-Eyed Susan grows in full sun and medium-wet to medium soils. In ideal conditions, Showy Black-Eyed Susan spreads via rhizomes to form dense colonies. Having highly variable habitats, Showy Black-Eyed Susan can be found in moist rocky woodlands, savannas, moist meadows, fens, and even swamps.
